Welcome to the website of John Leeves, artist and filmmmaker, a British man who has found himself living in the very strange land of America.

Strange indeed, as visitors from the mother country may have noticed, I’m not sure. This is a place where people will attempt your accent on a whim, immediately after discovering your origins (and it’s usually Dick Van Dyke style cockney). For example, whilst buying groceries recently, the cashier shouted ‘BOLLOCKS!’ loudly before everyone, enquiring as to the meaning of the word. Something I have never encountered before that is certain. If you are American and are reading this, in order to prevent such an occurrence again if we ever meet, it’s Brit slang for testicles.

I live in the Los Angeles area of California, and I’ll say I love it, incidents such as the above, as bizarre as they get, just make my day.
